Believe It, Receive It

February 14, 2012

One of the most serving lessons I have learned from my mentors is that my beliefs create my reality. When I looked around my life, I saw things that I didn’t think I believed; yet there they were in my life showing up on a daily basis. My mind told me that I believed I was worthy of all the abundance life has to offer. My life showed me I barely had enough to survive. My mind told me I believed I was a good, honest, kind, generous person. My life showed me people that were unkind, dishonest, and selfish. I decided to put this theory to the test and experimented as if it was true. If my beliefs really create my reality, perhaps at the core of my being, so deep inside it wasn’t even known to my conscious mind, I was operating from a non-serving belief system. With this as my focus, I began changing the world inside of me, and as a result the world outside of me began to transform as well.

As I was thinking about this process of redefining the world around me, my curiosity was peeked to explore what the root of the word “Believe” actually is. With a little investigation, I found that believe comes from the meaning: “to like, desire.” How interesting! All the teachings on the Law of Attraction (like attracts like), God answering our prayers (fulfilling our desires), and other philosophies and theories on how things come into our lives are now woven together with this new, deeper, more authentic understanding of the word believe and the power our beliefs have in our lives. Life is simply responding to our desires. Not just the conscious “I want to have” desires, life is also responding to what we believe, and is happily delivering this to us at every moment.

Anyone that has followed my teachings has likely heard me say that if you want to know what you believe, do not consult your brain. Instead, take a look around you. Everything that you believe is surrounding you in every moment. Truth is a direct experience. Challenge yourself to experiment with this process. Work to remove the blinders you have to the true beliefs you are operating from. Examine the evidence that life is showing you and work your way back to what it is telling you about yourself and your beliefs. The more you look, the more you will see. If you get stumped along the way, reach out to me and I will help you reveal the truth that life is showing you. You can always go back to the way you are currently operating in life. Regardless, one thing is guaranteed: if you keep doing what you are doing, you will keep getting what you are getting.

  2. Well stated! I was just talking last night with my hubby about how continuing to be and do the same is going to get the same. Time to change things up! 🙂
